Whisky stones chill without meltwater – but different materials perform very differently. We explain which option suits your whisky, your taste and your expectations.
In brief
Whisky stones are reusable drink chillers made from natural stone or metal. They are chilled before use and then placed in the drink. Unlike ice, they do not melt, so they do not dilute the whisky. Natural stone in particular usually chills much more gently than ice cubes.
